Whats love got to do with it?

It is said that people become librarians because they love books! but todays librarians have become more technocrats than book worms.
Consider my case! I have been around books for so long sometimes that I have to hug a book goodnight, but as far as I can see now with the development of technology I will be telling the computer goodnight instead. Hope my books wont get jealous and start a fight. If that should happen though I would definitely want my computer to win. That is so sad ...but with this course ...

IST 611 is a technology course taught at Syracuse University to future librarians . Yes librarians have gone beyond books now and they are about to become leaders in technology. So the big talk is about teaching kids concept mapping skills! Its already hard to get them to read , what will they conceptualizing about?
Well I am going to find out about two kinds of concept mapping Software that can be used with kids and I will be back with you in two days.

I love that song, maybe we can put it on one of the concept mapping picks of your choice. A few years ago we bought Kidspiration and Inspiration for our school. This is excellent software. When we received the tablet pc computers from Library Services and the New York Department of Education it came with Inspiration already loaded on the computer. What is great is that it has a speech feature to help the younger students or anyone that maybe an auditory learner. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Gloria, I had no idea of the amount of technology involved in school libraries (until I started taking courses with you). It's probably better that I didn't know, or I'd have been too intimidated to begin this journey. I, too was interested in the books... now there's so much more. I like your term, "technorat,"; it's funny. I look forward to learning more about concept mapping as well.

I, for one, am an absolute "Technorat". I love that term, I might even be a TechnoBrat" since I love to try out the latest technologies out there. The idea of having software programs that assist students in creating graphic organizers is fantastic. I always use these with the students because it helps them to stay focused on the task at hand.
Can't wait to learn more about it.
